Corn Milling & Cereal Products
Besides soybeans, corn was one of the first genetically modified crops made commercially available. Two thirds of American cornfields are genetically modified, and the trend clearly goes towards further growth of these fields.
The milling products supplied by Austrade Inc. are made in Europe from corn (maize) exclusively grown and harvested in European countries.
The exclusive processing of a variety of Non-GMO grains is of great importance for our customers. Therefore, Austrade Inc. only imports and markets milling products, which do not contain any genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
Corn bran is a by-product derived from the production of corn flaking grits.
The corn is crushed and the hull, the germ as well as the coarse meal are being separated from other particles. The corn bran mainly consists of the corn hull.
Corn Grits - various grades and made-to-order
The corn is crushed and peeled in the first milling process. Afterwards the hull, the germ as well as the coarse meal are being separated from the husky particles.
In a second milling process the endosperm parts are being processed into different types of grits.
Whole Corn Grits
The whole kernel is crushed and ground. The end product contains all parts of the grain.
Corn Flaking Grits
The corn is crushed and peeled during the milling process. Afterwards, the hull, the germ as well as the coarse meal are separated from the husky particles. The corn flaking grits are segregated according to their size.
Corn Flakes* (also in fine quality)
These are crispy toasted, granulated flakes from European yellow corn. They are freshly made by cooking the grits under addition of sugar, salt malt extract and subsequent rolling, toasting and granulation. The flakes are produced traditionally, and are not extruded.
Whole Grain Corn Flakes*
These are crispy toasted (according to your specification) flakes from European yellow corn. They are made by cooking the whole grain and subsequent rolling and toasting. The flakes are produced traditionally, and are not extruded.
Multi Grain Flakes
These are crispy toasted flakes from e.g. corn, rice and wheat. They are freshly made by cooking the peeled grains under addition of sugar, salt and malt extract and subsequent rolling and toasting. The flakes are produced traditionally, and are not extruded.
